What is Your Favorite Thing About Summer? Comment-a-thon

Things on the blog are picking up these days, if the number of followers is any indication.  So, in order to get to know you a little more, and to take the easy way out of posting (because I am sooo busy doing nothing all day), I decided to get some reader input.  You all know what my favorite thing about summer is.....
Amherst Shore, Nova Scotia!  Sandbars, beaches, farmhouse and family!

I could go on forever, and sometimes I do, about how much I love coming up here for the summer.  In order to give the blog a little dimension, I want to hear from you!  What is your favorite thing about summer?
I went first, now it's your turn!

P.S.  I did not even notice that the link I attached was posted exactly one year ago to the date until I reread the post and went to the link.  What a coincidence!  Cue up the alien space invader music....

my favorite thing about summer is pretty much the same thing as you! Going to the Shore. Although, it's a much more short-lived visit than your stay. Another thing I'm loving about this summer is taking my bike out for rides, even in the hot Houston weather. I can only imagine it will get better when the weather gets cooler.

My favorite thing about summer is the long days. I appreciate them so much more now that I life in Wisconsin. It's crazy that they are already starting to get shorter. I love the flowers in my pots, the food in my garden, our CSA, all the swimming and outside time, and family vacations! Two weeks until we get to enjoy the sandbars! Ok, more like 16 days, but I rounded.

That is well-phrased; even if you don't really like summer, there's got to be something that you enjoy about it. Like, warm water in rivers and lakes. Makes outdoor activities much more fun, especially boating. Glide doen the river to a sandy beach, have a swim, barbecue something for dinner, with river-cooled beer, see the day off at campfire, and then step over to the water and watch the stars...

Time together with a large extended family,
Getting things done around the farmhouse and cottages
The early part of the day when the sun is shining brightly in the windows and all is quiet.

Some of my favorite things about summer is the carefree attitude it gives you. Everything seems to slow down a notch or two. I love to grill outside and swim with friends and family, and travel with Marshall's baseball team. The excitement building for LSU football and the long days it brings us. Everyday seems like it should be a weekend day!

Great input! I too love the longer days, especially up here since they are even longer the farther north you go. The relaxed, every day is a weekend day, and just hanging out! Keep those summer favorites coming.

Surfing in the sun! Although up here in Canada on the West Coast our summers are frequently very rainy, but when the sun does break through you seem to forget about the rainy days.

Well this week we are at the Jersey Shore with Joe and Helen and in a couple of weeks I will go to the Lake Erie Shore with my parent's. So I guess my favorite thing about the summer would be hanging out by large bodies of water with people.

When in Judique, Nova Scotia the air, the sea, the sky I enjoy as no where else seems so magical. The ancestors prior to me appear playing pipes and dancing. My father often told me the story of "Judique on the floor" as many danced til dawn!

When at Notre Dame I envision the Irish Guard strutting in front of the "Band of Reknown"! Whether summer or winter or any time between The Peace at The Grotto, The Chimes of Sacred Heart Basilica, or simply Mass in a Dorm Chapel envelopes oneself comfortingly putting one at peace.

when in Judique, Nova Scotia the air, the sea, the sky seems like no where else so grand. My ancestors fill my mind often thinking of my father who told the story of "Judique on the floor" not a challenge but a warning of people dancing til dawn under the strings of a Fiddler such as MacMaster.

When at Notre Dame I envision the Irish Guard strutting in front of the "Bank of Reknown". The Peace of The Grotto, The Chimes of the Sacred Heart Basilica, the simple Mass of a Dorm Chapel envelopes one simply putting at peace oneself. Memories all wonderful without time.
